Q&A: If I want to start reading the Bible, where do I start?

First, you should figure out why it is you want to read the Bible and what you are looking for.

Once you figure that out, it’d be wise to find someone, a group, a local church, or an organization (like us) THAT YOU TRUST to be real with you and study with you for mutual learning. It would also be helpful to attend any related events where you feel comfortable to question and discuss the Bible and anything else "god" related.  It is important to realize as well that you cannot simply just read the Bible like any other book, but you must study it by comparing Scripture with other Scripture and taking into account cultural, social, and historical contexts.  If you are serious about reading/studying the Bible, asking questions and seeking unbiased truth, then I offer one-on-one and group Bible Studies, as well as other free resources and free events. These services and studies are inclusive of everyone--regardless of gender, religious/spiritual affiliation, beliefs, backgrounds, etc. I am open to serving everyone and receiving any questions (philosophical, scientific whatever), any at all, that you may have about God, faith, religion, spirituality, and the Bible.

On this journey, you will find that many professed Christians are judgemental, hypocritical and downright mean individuals. There are many professed Christians who use religion and/or spirituality as a tool and justification for control, power, fame, unjust hate and wealth (I grew up in a household where Scriptures were thrown about being used to judge and control by fear, leading me to become agnostic and then atheist for sometime.), but even the Bible addresses this and the consequences for those individuals. Do not let any of this discourage you in your exploration of the Christian faith, of becoming a follower of Yahweh. Do not let anyone tell you that any denomination is better than the other because we are not commissioned to judge or put ourselves on a moral pedestal. And do not sweat the small stuff. The biggest thing is to make progress, be open and receptive to truth, learn what love means from a divine perspective (also taught in the Bible) and try to apply that sense of love to all that you do, and most importantly, build a genuine personal relationship with Yahweh/Jehovah, the God of the Holy Bible and Christian faith.
